City of Lost Angels

City of lost angels, we mourn for you
For lost is the city of angels.
In obscurity it came, under cover of night
The messenger of death, a blinding light
The great desolator, breath of the wicked
In a flash, all lost from sight.

Your masters deceived you and fodder you were
As those in the mountains of steel.
To what purpose your death and who was to gain
By this justification to murder and mame
In a faraway land of those who sought peace?
Now, as Reichstag, all will be aflame.

City of lost angels, please hear my plea.
Turn from your sins now and flee.
Those you have trusted, though you they despise
And, for a cover, to destroy foreign lives
At half after midnight profane fire came and
Cinders and ash I saw fall from your skies.
